Fleming decided Bond should look a little like both the American singer Hoagy Carmichael and himself.

 
Barry Nelson played "Card Sense" James 'Jimmy' Bond in a 1 hour TV adaptation of Casino Royale in 1954. Bond is American in this adaptation.

In 1973 Christopher Cazenove played James Bond in the BBC documentary Omnibus: The British Hero. He played Bond in dramatised scenes from Goldfinger and Diamonds Are Forever.

In the 1991 TV cartoon series James Bond Jr. Corey Burton voiced the role of Bond's nephew, who also happens to be called James Bond.

In 1956 the novel Moonraker was adapted for broadcast on South African radio. Bob Holness voiced Bond to much acclaim. (Video for voice sample as his Bond recording is not publicly available.)

In 1990 You Only Live Twice was adapted into a 90 minute radio play for BBC Radio 4 in which Michael Jayston voiced James Bond. (Video of She Fell Among Thieves for voice sample as his Bond recording is not publicly available.)

 
In 2008 BBC Radio 4 broadcast an adaptation of Dr. No. Toby Stephens played James Bond. Again, in 2010 BBC Radio 4 broadcast Goldfinger with Toby Stephens playing Bond. FInally, in 2012 From Russia, with Love was dramatised for Radio 4, starring Toby Stephens as James Bond. In 1957 the Daily Express approached Ian Fleming to adapt his stories into comic strips. He eventually agreed. After some disagreement over Bond's appearance, Casino Royale was published from 7 July-13 December 1958. It was written by Anthony Hern and illustrated by John McLusky.

Most of the Bond novels and short stories as well as several original stories were adapted for illustration and, for these, Yaroslav Horak replaced McClusky as artist in 1966. The Comic strips continued in the Daily Express and Sunday Express until May 1977

At the time of Dr. No's release in October 1962, a comic book adaptation of the screenplay, written by Norman J. Nodel, was published in Britain as part of the Classics Illustrated anthology series.

Marvel Comics published a two-issue comic book adaptation of For Your Eyes Only, coinciding with the release of the 1981 film. Roger Moore was used as the face of Bond. (See the bottom panel).

Marvel Comics also published an accompanying comic when Octopussy was released in 1983. Roger Moore was used as the face of Bond.

Eclipse produced a comic for Licence to Kill, although Timothy Dalton refused to allow his likeness to be used. From 1989 on, new comics were drawn and published through Marvel Comics, Eclipse Comics and Dark Horse Comics to coincide with the films and use the current and previous bond film stars likenesses. In 2000 Electronic Arts released The World Is Not Enough for the Nintendo 64 and 007 Racing for PlayStation, featuring Brosnan as Bond.

In 2003 Electronic Arts released James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing, which included the likeness and voice of Pierce Brosnan as Bond.

In 2005 Electronic Arts released 007: From Russia with Love, which included the likeness and voice of Sean Connery as Bond.

In 2008 Activision released 007: Quantum of Solace, which included the likeness of Daniel Craig.

In 2012 007 Legends was released by Activision, which featured one mission from each of the Bond actors of the Eon Productions' series.
