Thinking about illustration styles

Style #1: Like an old engraving (period piece that matches the era)

Drawbacks are that it is hard to draw lines resembling carving, audience appreciation of an old art style might be low, the amount of detail required might send me around the twist as I will likely be doing 30 drawings (15 large so that they can be reduced to full pages within a novel and 15 small so they can be reduced to thumbprint chapter markers).
