10 unusually strong female figures in kid's and young adult's fiction

There has been a great influx of strong female characters into fiction over the last few decades but it has taken a while for them to be main characters and free from stereotyping. I made the below list to show that strength can be found in different ways, but mostly through force of character. This force of character alone is what allows them to be centre stage or important to any story.
The below is just the beginning and a good place to start when searching for strong female characters to act as role models for young minds.

Alice from Alice in Wonderland

Dorothy from The Wizard Of Oz

Harriet from Harriet The Spy

Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series

Lyra Silvertongue from His Dark Materials trilogy

Jennifer Strange from The Last Dragonslayer series

Coraline from Coraline

Matilda Wormwood from Matilda

Pippi Longstocking from the Pippi Longstocking series

Madeleine from the Madeleine series
