Recommended Friday night reads

You've often held movie nights on a Friday, complete with feet up and a tub of ice cream or popcorn. Well, for those alone on a Friday night or just wishing to cuddle up, the book is also a good choice. But what to read? Friday nights are special and demand indulgence.
There is something about Friday nights that require silliness, shock, horror, wild imagination and all things fun. Slasher thrills, off-the-wall fantasy, explosive action, deadly scrapes, mind bending science are all in order.
It takes a special something to match the mood of a Friday night, whether in movies, books or games, so I thought I'd pick out a few favourites that I'd recommend for a great Friday night in.

Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy by Douglas Adams

Grunts by Mary Gentle

The 13½ Lives Of Captain Bluebear by Walter Moers

The Nightside series by Simon R Green

Keeping It Real by Justina Robson

Nekropolis by Tim Waggoner

Sandman Slim by Richard Kadrey

Enjoy!

  1. Daniel: What was Philippa's surname? Trant?

Rosalie: Sounds like that yes. Then she married Erskine-Brown.

Rosalie: It is Phyllida 'Portia' Erskine-Brown.
